Mold
Mold is a type of fungus that causes biodegradation (i.e., the breaking down) of natural materials. Molds are very common in buildings and homes, are found in virtually every environment, and can be detected, both indoors and outdoors.
There are no established health-based standards for acceptable levels of mold spores in indoor air and mold is not regulated in California. Mold does not affect everyone. Allergic reactions, similar to pollen or animal allergies, and irritation are the most common health effects for individuals sensitive to molds. Most symptoms are temporary and eliminated by controlling mold growth.
